Julian Assange, political prisoner, US, GB, satire, comic, collage

The US is by far the most repressive state on earth

As with military spending, the US leads the prison population worldwide as well [Link to Prisonstudies.org]. In 2018, 2 million 121,600 people were detained in the United States. In more than four times more populous China, there were many fewer: namely 1 million 649,804.

Julian Assange on the last press freedom | Current issues with Elizabeth I

Press freedom, Julian Assange, USA, GB, democracy, media, satire, comic, cynical

Journalist, Julian Assange, quote, justice

Julian Assange is detained in Britain for political reasons. This contradicts all democratic values and is unworthy of the long British legal tradition. The US wants to make an example. Instead of indicting the US war criminals, a journalist is being charged. Assange's arrest is an abuse of the judiciary and a serious blow to press freedom. Also read the assessment by Nils Melzer, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, in Newsweek.
